Difference Between A Well Exam

A wellness exam is a preventative exam typically covered by most insurances on yearly basis.
These exams are designed to identify potential health risks through routine screenings.
During a wellness exam, various items are reviewed and discussed, such as but not limited to:

Blood Screening
Mammogram
Colonoscopy
Pap Smear
Dexa Scan
Vaccine Review/update

Social History review
Depression Screening
Fall Risk Screening
Bladder Health
Social Determinants

Physcial exams assess current concerns/symptoms to identify potential complications, and to discuss treatment. These exams may have a copay, deductible, or coinsurance. Examples of routine visit may involve but are not limited to;

Medication/chronic condition management

Sick visits

Addressing/treating new symptoms

Reviewing test results and proceeding with a care plan

Lab work

Ordering/performing diagnostic testing such as xrays

Providing referrals Rechecks/follow-ups

Doctor Patient Consultation

When combining a well exam and a physical (regular) exam into a same-day appointment, the care provided will be submitted to your insurance and may show as two separate charges. You may be responsible for the copay, deductible, or coinsurance associated with the regular exam.
